Local fix
This problem can be avoided by setting the JVM option -Xjit:disableIdiomRecognition. However, it may cause some performance degradation
Problem summary
The JIT compiler did not zero out bits 32-55 of GPR0 when using the SRST instruction, or bits 32-47 of GPR0 when using the SRSTU instruction.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 6 R1 SR8 (6.1.8.0) 7 SR7 (7.0.7.0) 7 R1 SR1 (7.1.1.0) 6 SR16 FP40 (6.0.16.40) . The JIT compiler has been modified to zero out the appropriate bits of GPR0 whenever SRST or SRSTU is used.
