Problem summary
The problem happens when first byte is valid lead byte and second byte is not valid second byte of double byte sequence, then it replaces both bytes together with single FFFD instead of replacing only first byte with FFFD with IO convertor side of GB18030 codepage. Second byte should be checked for valid single byte or valid lead byte of multi byte sequence
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 5.0.0 SR16 FP6 6.0.0 SR16 6.0.1 SR8 7.0.0 SR7 . The JDK is updated to replace FFFD for maximal subpart of invalid double byte sequence and subsequent byte will be checked for valid single byte or valid lead byte of multi byte sequence.
