Local fix

  • This problem can be avoided with the -Xjit:disableEscapeAnalysis
    option.

Problem summary

  • A compiled method in a Java program using DAA (Direct Access
Accelerator) causes the JVM to crash (SIGSEGV), when it attempts
to load from an address that has just passed a null pointer
check. The address is supposed to point to a packed decimal
object, but it is not a valid address.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR6
    6.0.1 SR7
    6.0.0 SR15
    5.0.0 SR16 FP4
    .
The JIT compiler has been updated to avoid generating null
address value in such cases when it is illegal to do so.
