Error description

  • Error Message: java
-Xdump:java:events=user,file=C:/work/javacore.%pid.txt
writes the javacore file to
C:\current\working\directory\C:/work/javacore.4004.txt
It would be better if the forward-slashes were corrected to
back-slashes, and the file written to C:\work\javacore.4004.txt
This would match how -Xverbosegclog works.

Local fix

  • Correct the forward-slashes manually.

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused because the JVM does not automatically fix
up forward-slashes in -Xdump options on Windows.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
7.0.0 SR6
6.0.1 SR7
6.0.0 SR15
.
The JVM has been updated to correct the forward-slashes
automatically.
