APAR status

Error description

  • Error Message: Wrong result with some long arithmetic
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A

    The problem can only occur on x86-64 (AMD and Intel CPUs)
    running the 64bit JVM.
    

Local fix

  • Disable JIT compiling the one method where problem was found.
    -Xjit:exclude={full_method_name}
    

Problem summary

  • The problem was an unanticipated condition in a new sequence
    added for analyse add for LEA, where we tried to use a LEA
    operation with 3 registers on 64bit, because the constant used
    in the LEA expression couldn't be fit in 32bits.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR5
    6.0.1 SR6
    6.0.0 SR14
    5.0.0 SR16 FP3
    
    .
    The code was modified and to reject using an LEA instruction for
    this situation.
