Error description

  • Product: Prospect
    Release: R39
    Severity: 3
    Component ID: 572POEMAL

    Problem
A UDC formula has a limitation of 4000 characters. The Classic
Client does not allow the user to enter a formula larger than
4000 characters as the underlying database table design can hold
    only upto 4000 characters.

Local fix

  • Workaround/Fix
If the formula runs into more than 4000 characters, break the
formula into smaller components and for each component create a
UDC. Finally use all the sub-components (i.e. UDCs) to create
    the final formula.

Problem summary

  • A UDC formula has a limitation of 4000 characters. The Classic
Client does not allow the user to enter a formula larger than
4000 characters as the underlying database table design can hold
    only up to 4000 characters.

Problem conclusion

  • This is projected to be fixed in R40.3. Note that this is
subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
