Error description

  • Error Message: An array store might cause the JVM to crash, or
    the instanceof operator might return a wrong result. This only
    happens in a JIT-compiled method on 64-bit z/OS or z/Linux.

Local fix

  • This problem can be avoided by setting the JVM option
    -Xjit:exclude={full method name} for the method that is causing
    the issue. This might cause some performance degradation.
    

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused by an incorrect type check instruction
    sequence in JIT-compiled code.

  • This defect will be fixed in:

    6.0.1 SR6
    6.0.0 SR14
    5.0.0 SR16 FP3
    .
    The JIT compiler has been updated to generate correct code for
    type checks.
