APAR status

Error description

  • Error Message: The JVM may die with SIGILL or SIGSEGV after
    executing a bad branch.

Local fix

  • The only workaround for this issue is to disable the JIT
    compiler with the -Xint option.
    

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused by an integer overflow inside the JIT
    compiler when generating long branches with large offsets.
    Problem only occurs on 64-bit z/OS and z/Linux.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR16 FP3
    6.0.0 SR14
    6.0.1 SR16
    7.0.0 SR5
    .
    The JIT compiler has been updated with branch calculations that
    will not overflow.
