Error description

• Environment: The Monitoring Agent for UNIX Logs 6.2.2
  
  
  Problem Description: when the description of a syslog entry is
  longer than 768 characters it's represented by a blank line in
  the portal (Description Unicode field) and the situation that
  should capture the log doesn't raise.
  

Local fix

• Workaround: use Description field instead of Description Unicode
  

Problem summary

• The UNIX Logs Agent does not report SYSLOG entries that are
  longer than 768 characters.
  
  
  When the description of a SYSLOG entry is longer than 768
  characters it is represented by a blank line in the portal
  (Description Unicode field) and the situation that should
  capture the log is not raised.
  

Problem conclusion

• The IBM Tivoli Monitoring UNIX Logs Agent is now able to handle
  entries longer than 768 chars for syslog entries.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is going to be included in the following
  maintenance vehicle:

Temporary fix

• Use the Description field instead of Description Unicode.
