Error description

  • The NetApp plugin's "as designed" standard behaviour currently
is that if a previously discovered VFiler is no longer
physically present when a when a discovery is run, then it is
deleted from TSAM as part of the discovery. If it is then
re-instated then it will be discovered again but any existing
project that have shared storage assigned will no longer be
associated with the now newly discovered VFiler.
    .
This is NOT desired behaviour as there is a valid scenario where
the VFiler will not be physically present when a discovery is
run, when it has been taken offline and disconnected for
    maintenance purposes as an example.

NetApp filer issues during NetApp discovery :

In NetApp storage type, if a previously discovered NetApp filer
    is not physically
present during discovery, it is deleted from the Tivoli Service
    Automation Manager.
After it is reinstated, the discovery is successful. However,
    projects that previously
shared the storage are no longer associated with the newly
    discovered NetApp
    filer.

Do not run discovery whenever the NetApp filer is offline and is
    disconnected for
    maintenance purposes.
