Problem summary


    

  • The issue was an edge case with an optimization we added for
specjenterprise. Namely, we started aligning objects of some
classes for better placement when the objects of those classes
are tenured.
However when we are using the balanced collector, an array
object can get moved because we can no longer fit the object in
the segment. This way the object becomes an arraylet. When the
calculate the size of the arraylet they dont' include the
alignment, which makes the calculation wrong. Therefore, the
movement of the object fails because of size constraints of the
new segment.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • This defect will be fixed in:
7.0.0 SR4
.
The fix was to disable aligning of array objects in any mode
that supports arraylets.
