Error description

  • Error Message: When a console or stack dump is written to a file
the file contains junk characters not the same output seen when
a console or stack dump is sent to the terminal.
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .
The JVM was running with an -Xdump:console or -Xdump:stack dump
agent enabled and the file= parameter was used to specify a file
name to write the output from that dump agent to.
This is only seen on z/OS.

Local fix

  • The file is in ASCII and can be converted manually or copied to
a machine running a different operating system that will open
ASCII files correctly such as Windows, Linux or AIX.

Problem summary

  • The text is being written to the file in the wrong character
    set.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR4
    6.0.1 SR5
    6.0.0 SR13
    .
The JVM has been updated to use the correct character set for
    the platform.
