APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When compiling a large application with the following options,
  it causes the ASTI component to abend.
  
  mpixlf90 -c -O2 -qsuffix=f=f90 test.f90
  

Local fix

• The abend goes away at -qnoopt.
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED: Users of XL Fortran on all platforms can be
  affected by this issue.
  
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Large applications with many derived types that are very deep
  and recursive take a long time to
  compile, require a lot of /tmp space, and sometimes causes the
  compiler to abend.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed. The fix involves changes to the
  logic of an internal function that handles type recursion.
