• When compiling an application using supporting module files, the
  xlfentry component of the compiler is encountering an internal
  compiler error:

  1501-511  Compilation failed for file test.f90.
  make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 40.
  
  
  Argument attribute errors might be output before the compiler
  encounters the internal error, and exits:
  
  
  "test.f90", line 50.30: 1513-061 (S) Actual argument attributes
  do not match those specified by an accessible explicit
  interface.
  
  
  The code in question makes use of "use, only".

• The internal error is caused by a known issue in the XL Fortran
  V12.1 compiler and is related to "use, only" usage.  Mixing
  module files between versions of the compiler can trigger the
  problem.
  
  The issue was identified and corrected in the XL Fortran V13.1
  compiler, but using module files compiled with previous versions
  of the compiler may still encounter it.  This is a
  compiler design limitation.  It is recommended to recompile all
  source files and modules with the V13.1 or higher compiler.
