Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Any users making use of channels, and a publish subscribe
    hierarchy

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
A duplicate message on an internal control queue caused part of
the channel initiator to end prior to normal completion. This
resulted in less than the minimum number of expected internal
data streams which resulted in a loop in the remaining channel
    initiator code.

The duplicate message on the internal control queue occurred
because the return code of an earlier function was not checked
    before the record was written.

Problem conclusion

  • The function which placed the duplicate message on the internal
control queue will no longer be called if the earlier function
failed. This prevents the loop from occurring. The failure of
the earlier function is correctly handled by the subsequent
    code.
