IV23000: CRASH IN MERGEDEFCONTRAINTS DURING COMPILATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: SIGSEGV/GPF during the compilation of a method.
  .
  Stack Trace: The top of the C++ stack should have the following
  function:
  TR_ValuePropagation::mergeDefContraints
  The rest of the stack is unwalkable.
  .
  

Local fix

• To workaround this issue, the method that was being compiled at
  the time of the crash should be excluded from compilation.
  This can be done using the following command line option:
  -Xjit:exclude={*<method signature>*}
  

Problem summary

• Part of the mergeDefContraint function incorrectly attempted to
  reference a NULL pointer that is part of one of the internal
  data structures used to perform this optimization.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  5.0.0 SR14
  6.0.1 SR4
  6.0.0 SR12
  7.0.0 SR3
  .
  The function has been altered so that the the NULL pointer can
  no longer be dereferneced.
