Error description

  • The "Installation Guide" (http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocent
    er/tivihelp/v15r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.itm.doc_6.2.3fp1%2F
    itm623FP1_install360.htm&path=3_0_3_0_7_3_6_1) directs the user
    to put KFW_INTERFACE_xxxx_HOST in CANDLEHOME/config/cq.ini.

The TEPS configuration plugin uses KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST to
set the host name in tep.jnlp for use in browser clients. The
plugin incorrectly looks for KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST in
    CANDLEHOME/<platform>/cq/original/lnxenv. If it doesn't find
the setting, it uses the local host name as reported by Java's
    InetAddress.getLocalHost().getCanonicalHostName() method.

Local fix

  • Define KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST in both CANDLEHOME/config/cq.ini
    and CANDLEHOME/<platform>/cq/original/lnxenv.

Problem summary

  • The IBM Tivoli Monitoring "Installation Guide" gives directions
to define interfaces (like KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST) in
    CANDLEHOME/config/cq.ini (cq.ini). However, the "High
Availability Guide for Distributed Systems" gives directions to
    set the value in CANDLEHOME/<platform>/cq/original/lnxenv
(lnxenv). Further, the install process looks for the value in
lnxenv. Because settings in lnxenv are not preserved, all code
and documentation with respect to KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST should
     instead reference cq.ini.

    Install Actions

If you have defined a virtual host name for the portal server in
the lnxenv file, move the setting to cq.ini and reconfigure the
portal server to make the setting active.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was changed to obtain KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST from
cq.ini. If it is not defined there, the value is obtained from
lnxenv in case the user followed older documentation.

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
    | fix pack | 6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0005

Temporary fix

  • Define KFW_INTERFACE_cnps_HOST in both cq.ini and lnxenv.
