APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While updating metadata using WSRR REST API, the object being
  updated is retrieved to a depth which is too deep leading to
  unncessary memory usage causing performance degradation.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When performing an update using the WSRR REST API, the object
  being updated was retrieved to depth -1, retrieving all linked
  objects and any object they were linked to.
  
  Such a update is done by a HTTP PUT to the URL
  /WSRR/7.5/Metadata/XML/<bsrURI>/<verb>
  
  Where verb is the type of update, for example "properties" or
  "relationships"
  

Problem conclusion

• The WSRR REST API now retrieves the object under update to a
  depth of 1, which only includes its relationship targets,
  properties and classifications. It will no longer retrieve the
  object to depth -1.
