APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: After using extended class redefinition to add or
remove methods, three different kinds of failures are observed:
    1) IncompatibleClassChangeError
    2) Crash
    3) The modified class method is not run (the obsolete method is
    run instead)
Currently, this can occur only while using the java debugger, as
extended redefinition is not allowed for instrumentation agents.
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The JVM was not correctly determining the set of classes which
needed to be recreated (in extended redefinition, subclasses of
redefined classes may need to be recreated as well).

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR1
    6.0.1 SR2
    6.0.0 SR11
    .
JVM has been updated to correctly determine the set of classes
which need to be recreated during extended redefinition.
