    RPM installation fails if the binfmt-misc kernal module is
    unsupported on Linux machine
    

Local fix

  • Enable the binfmt-misc kernal module
    

Problem summary

  • Problem is caused as the jexec script is copied to /etc/init.d,
    then it is started and its return value is used as a return
    value of post-install script .If binfmt-misc kernal module is
    unsupported then , jexec script will fail and consequently whole
    rpm installation will also fail.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR11
    7.0.0 SR3
    6.0.1 SR2
    .
    JRE/SDK RPM post installation script is updated with a check to
    fix this issue
