Error description

  • Error Message: JVM crashes when a Windows exception is triggered
    on a native thread that is running in the same process as the
    JVM, but that is not attached to the JVM.

Local fix

  • Disable the IBM Java Signal Handler using -Xrs
    

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused by the JVM searching for a J9Thread
    attached to a native thread when there is none.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR11
    6.0.1 SR2
    7.0.0 SR1
    .
    The JVM has been updated to prevent the silent crash from
    occuring and allows correct diagnostics to be obtained.
