Problem summary

  • When using the web UI to run a saved search originally performed
from the Quick Search, the following exception is thrown:

    java.lang.NullPointerException
     at
    com.ibm.sr.ui.util.XPathUtils.getReturnType(XPathUtils.java:147)
     at
    com.ibm.sr.ui.mediators.QueryMediator.executeSavedSearch(QueryMe
    diator.java:1046)
     at
    com.ibm.sr.ui.mediators.QueryMediator.runSavedSearch(QueryMediat
    or.java:974)
     at
    com.ibm.sr.ui.actions.SaveSearchAction.run(SaveSearchAction.java
    :344)

Problem conclusion

  • The web UI xPath parser had not been completely updated to check
for and handle the new 'textsearch' xPath function introduced
    in v7.5 of WSRR.

The xPath parsing code has now been updated to check for and
correctly process the 'textsearch' function. Failures to parse
xPath will also no longer result in a NullPointerException.

This fix is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 3 for WSRR v7.5.

Temporary fix
