Error description
The target server has no physical disks installed and is using multipath SAN. OSD can see the disks in the target inventory, but upon deployment, the RHEL 5.6 setup installation does not see the multipathed SAN. Thus it will fail without performing any installation. This happens in kernel-free mode only.
Local fix
A code fix is required to utilize multipath SAN disks in a RHEL 5.6 deployment. In addition you must have the following set: - a hardware configuration rule matching the target model information, specifying a linux kernel option 'mpath' - a profile configuration change to the disks indicating /dev/mapper/mpath0 as the logical disk.
Problem summary
Kernel-free flow was unable to: i) pass parameters to linux kernel ii) manage installation of fallback deployment engine
Problem conclusion
A fix for this issue will be delievered in TPM f OSD 711 FP9
