APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: Problems exists on AIX platform. If we run the
    code without java.nio.channels.spi.SelectorProvider parameter
    then it works fine but if we turn it on then we don't get any
    results although there's no error.

Local fix

  • Do not use the
    "Djava.nio.channels.spi.SelectorProvider=sun.nio.ch.PollSelector
    Provider" option.
    

Problem summary

  • The issue was discovered by TADDM team. Below is the desc of the
    issue:
    'Problems exists only on AIX platform. NIO test fails when
    java.nio.channels.spi.SelectorProvider parameter is used.else it
    works fine.
    This is part of our ping sensor. It does not use ICMP echo
    request. It opens a socket to specified port and check the
    status. '
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR1
    .
    The nio select-poll functionality is broken in AIX. This is due
    to a missing patch in JDK 7 and is now fixed.
