Error description
Optimized synchronous promotion.
Local fix
Not applicable
Problem summary
Synchronous promotion takes a long time to complete and warnings relating to hung threads might appear in the SystemOut.log. You might also experience transaction timeout exceptions depending upon your current timeout values.
Problem conclusion
A new promotion type 'sync-optimized' has been added that bypasses the use of a temporary derby database that is used by the existing 'sync' promotion type. Using this new type significantly reduces the time required to complete promotion processing. To enable the promotion optimizations made by APAR IV07613, it is necessary to update the <promotion><type> element where the value is 'sync' to a new value of 'sync-optimized' in the promotion properties configuration file. The promotion properties file can be edited using the WSRR web UI and navigating as follows: Configuration perspective -> Active profile -> Promotion -> PromotionProperties This code change is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 5 for WSRR v6.3, fix pack 5 for WSRR v7.0 and fix pack 2 for WSRR v7.5.
