APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: StringIndexOutOfBounds exception reported during
    application execution
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

  • -Xjit:disableIdiomRecognition. Please note however that using
this option might affect the performance of the application.

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused by the idiom recognition optimization in
the JIT compiler. The optimization incorrectly computes the
length of an arraycopy and uses this length to update the final
value of an induction variable used in a loop. The incorrect
value of the induction variable is then used later in the method
    and results in an exception.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR10
    6.0.1 SR1
    7.0.0 SR1

The JIT compiler has been updated to compute the correct length
    of a generated arraycopy.
