Error description
Error Message: N/A . Stack Trace: N/A . When using a phd file and Memory Analyzer to diagnose memory usage issues there were references missing between objects on the heap that the user knew would have referenced each other.
Local fix
Memory Analyzer can use a system dump as well as a heap dump. A system dump can be taken instead of a heap dump and used to diagnose heap usage issues. System dumps are significantly larger than heap dumps and more free disk space may be required in order to use them.
Problem summary
PHD heapdumps were missing references between objects located in different parts of the heap. References between objects in the tenured and nursery areas were not being included in the phd files generated when a heap dump occurred. This problem only occurred when using the gencon gc policy.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.1 GA FP1 . The JVM heapdump generator has been updated to include references that cross different regions of the heap in the PHD file. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20110222 or later
