Error description

  • Environment: Pcom V13,V14
Problem: If the printer driver name
has 'xxSonSxx', Pcom printer session cannot be saved, where 'S'
    is a space.
For example, the printer driver name is
'PRINT-AT-IBM_A4 on jpvpsxprt01', this printer setting cannot
be saved even after the *.ws file was saved successfully.
    Once
the user closed the printer session and open this printer
session, the printer is back to the default printer.

Local fix

  • Rename the printer driver name. Example 'PRINT-AT-IBM_A4'

    * Printer WS file cannot be saved if the printer driver name *

For example, if the printer driver name is "PRINT-AT-IBM_A4 on
jpvpsxprt01" this printer name cannot be saved even after the
*.WS file was saved successfully. After closing the printer
session and reopening, the printer is set back to the default
    printer.

Below are the steps to reproduce the above problem:

    1. Change the Printer Driver Name to "xxSonSxx" where S is
    Space.
    2. Launch Pcomm Printer session and connect to the host.
    3. Go to File Menu and select Printer Setup.
    4. Under Printer Setup select the Printer "xxSonSxx"
    5. Click OK
    6. Go to File Menu and Save the Pcomm Printer session.
    7. Disconnect the Printer session.
    8. Launch the Saved session (Print.ws)
    9. Printer Setup screen shows the Printer as Windows Default.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSPD.DLL has been updated to check if the word "on" is present
in the printer driver name. if it is present then skip it.

Fix scheduled for PCOMM 13.0.4 and 14.0.2 Refresh Packs
