APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When deploying a GPFS cluster on PureApplication using the GPFS
pattern type 1.2.10.0 or lower, avoid removing and/or adding a
mirror member when using multiple disks. Removal of a mirror
with multiple disks may lead to a GPFS cluster and filesystem
outage, in particular when a significant proportion of the GPFS
filesystem is in use. Adding a mirror with multiple disks works
fine but takes longer than needed.

Local fix

  • Do not remove a GPFS mirror, which contains multiple disks. And
allow for more time when adding a GPFS mirror with multiple
disks.

Problem summary

  • The GPFS Pattern type 1.2.10.0 in PureApplication 2.2.5.1 does
not support the use of Multiple Disks.

Problem conclusion

  • This has been fixed in PureApplication Fixpack 2.2.5.3.
