APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After IBM Spectrum Protect Server is upgraded to v8.1.4, the
    scheduled backups from pre-V7.1.8/8.1.2 levels of clients may
    be missed. Client error log shows following error:
    
    ANS1029E Communication with the TSM server is lost.
    Will attempt to get schedule from server again in 20 minutes.
    
    Server activity log shows ANR8601E error during the SSL
    handshake. The certificate exchanged between the server and
    client is not validated.
    
    Even node has VALIdateprotocol=No setting, problem still exists
    because client scheduler does not pick up server changed
    attributes without restarting the scheduler.
    

Local fix

  • Restart the client acceptor-managed or traditional
    scheduler depending on which mode is used to manage
    the scheduler
