APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the Operations Center (OC) Hub server has OC sessions that
    are idle for a long time, the reports in the OC do not work.
    The sessions started by the OC do not end properly and become
    idle.
    Reports in the OC do not work. Manually run the same SQL query
    on the server will take a long time to complete. The SQL query
    will gradually become slower and slower to complete.

    All supported IBM Spectrum Protect server
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)
    When the reports work, manually run the same SQL queries on the
    server will complete quickly.
    When the reports do not work, manually run the same SQL queries
    on the server will take much longer to complete.
    
    QUERY SESSION on the HUB server will show idle OC sessions for
    more than 1 hour. The OC sessions are the sessions started by
    administrator with partial name 'IBM-OC'
    
    SHOW MONQUEUES will show the monitor queues being full. For
    example,

    For V7 IBM Spectrum Protect servers the queue is full when the
    count reaches 1024000,
    For V8 IBM Spectrum Protect servers the queue is ull when the
    count reaches 10240.

Local fix

  • Use command CANCEL SESSION to cancel all OC sessions when you
    see the following conditions:
    -  Session started by the Operations Center are idle for a long
    time such as 1 hour or more.
    -  COUNT value on the monitor queue continues to increase
    approaching  the maximum queue size.  In a normal monitor queue
    the COUNT increases as data is put on it and then drop down to
    under a hundred as data is read from it
    
    Restart the IBM Spectrum Protect server will also clear out the
    idle sessions.
