APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The MQAI (MQ Administration Interface) places command messages
on the input queue for the queue manager's command server.
These messages do not have MQRO_DISCARD_MSG or
MQRO_PASS_DISCARD_AND_EXPIRY in the MQMD.Report field, so the
command server will not copy the expiration time from the
request message into the reply message, and will not discard the
    message.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who use the MQAI and need the behaviour of
    MQRO_DISCARD_MSG and MQRO_PASS_DISCARD_AND_EXPIRY.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
It is reasonable to require that the MQAI operates using
    MQRO_DISCARD_MSG and MQRO_PASS_DISCARD_AND_EXPIRY on command
messages, but the option was not provided within MQAI.

Problem conclusion

  • Additional code is added to the MQAI library code, to detect an
    environment variable named AMQ_MQAI_USE_NEW_MQRO_IN_CMD.

If it is set (to any value) then the MQAI library code running
in the application will add options MQRO_DISCARD_MSG and
MQRO_PASS_DISCARD_AND_EXPIRY to MQMD.Report before the command
message is put to the command server's input queue.

This environment variable must be set in the environment of the
MQAI application program. There is no need to set it in the
    environment of the queue manager.
