Error description

  • After successful DB Backup, when doing a Restore DB, the Restore
    DB fails if there are multiple libraries defined in the
    devconfig file and one of the library name's is a full subset of
    other library name. For example: One library name is KF6831 and
    the other name is AKF6831. This second name is a full subset of
    the first name.

    Example of the reported errors:
    ANR4634I Starting point-in-time database restore to date
    mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss
    ANR4591I Selected backup series xxxx from mm/dd/yyyy and
    hh:mm:ss as best candidate available for restore database
    processing.
    ANR2020E DEFINE PATH: Invalid parameter - ZOSMEDIASERVER.
    ANR0901W Invalid DEFINE PATH statement found in file
    /home/instance_path/devconf.dat.
    ANR4592I Restore database backup series xxxx includes eligible
    operation 0 with volume yyyyy having sequence 100001 and using
    device class  devclass_name.
    ANR4602E No volumes found for TODATE mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss
    ANR2032E RESTORE DB: Command failed - internal server error
    detected.

    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: V7.1.0.0 and above for
    all platforms

    Initial Impact: Medium

    Additional Keywords:  Recovery TSM

Local fix

  • If there are multiple libraries in the devconfig file, make sure
    that they are not named as a full subset of each other. If this
    is the case, comment out the subset library definitions from the
    devconfig file. Add the "*" to remark out the subset library
    name.

    Example of remarking out the subset name:
    *DEFINE LIBRARY AKF6831 LIBTYPE=ZOSMEDIA
    DEFINE LIBRARY KF6831 LIBTYPE=ZOSMEDIA
    *DEFINE DEVCLASS AKF6831 DEVT=CARTRIDGE FORMAT=3490B UNIT=3480
    COMPRESSION=YES PROTECTION=NO MOUNTL=64 MOUNTWAIT=15
    MOUNTRETENTION=1 PREFIX=AS.ON LIBRARY=AKF6831
    DEFINE DEVCLASS KF6831_ONSITE DEVT=CARTRIDGE FORMAT=DRIVE
    UNIT=TAPE COMPRESSION=YES PROTECTION=NO MOUNTL=64 MOUNTWAIT=15
    MOUNTRETENTION=1 PREFIX=AS.ON LIBRARY=KF6831

    *DEFINE PATH TSM1 AKF6831 SRCTYPE=SERVER DESTTYPE=LIBRARY
    ZOSMEDIASERVER=TSM_SERVER ONLINE=YES
    DEFINE PATH TSM1 KF6831 SRCTYPE=SERVER DESTTYPE=LIBRARY
    ZOSMEDIASERVER=TSM_SERVER ONLINE=YES
