Error description
A DB2 client backup looks to hang on a zLinux client machine. When that situation happens, a dsmtca process is looping and consuming a lot of CPU resources. This is due to a problem with the GSKIT for the zLinux client. This may also affect standard Backup/Archive client activities. In that case the high CPU usage is seen with the dsmc program. Tivoli Storage Manager and IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: v6.4 , v7.1 , v8.1 on zLinux client platform Customer/L2 Diagnostics: 1.) Identify the PID of the dsmtca process using the following command: "ps aux |grep dsmtca" Check the one using a lot of CPU. 2.) Run "gstack" against the PID identified in 1.) Local fix
Switch from PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE to PASSWORDACCESS PROMPT method in the dsm.sys file until a fix is available.

Problem conclusion
The problem was due to an issue in GSKit library (GSKit ticket 8872). The fix for both: FIPS and non-FIPS GSKit modes has been provided since GSKit version 8.0.50.86.
