IT20070: INCREMENTAL FOREVER BACKUP OF VM FAILED ANS9919E AND RC 6713

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The incremental forever backup of Virtual machine failed but
    full backup of same virtual machine completed successfully.
    
    The issue occurs when the previous backup had a network error
    but managed to retry. When the issue occurs the datamover
    errorlog should have the following message ,

    The issue is due to sending retry of the dat file and old dat
    file remained on Spectrum server, which becomes inactive.

    Products affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive Client version
    7.1.4 and  7.1.6 on Linux and Windows
    Note: The Backup-Archive Client is a prerequisite to using the
    Data Protection for VMware. In Data Protection for VMware
    environments, the Backup-Archive Client is also known as the
    data mover.
    
    This problem also affects IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual
    Environments: Data Protection for VMware 8.1.0. If you are using
    Data Protection for VMware 8.1.0, refer to APAR IT18025.
    

Local fix

  • Run a full backup. If the issue persists then check network
    connection between Spectrum Protect  server and client.
