APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • MQ managed .NET client receives ERR_PROTOCOL_LENGTH_ERROR while
    attempting to communicate with a queue manager.
    The issue happens when  SHARECNV=1 and userid and password
    values are
    set by the application.
    
    A connecting application can also receive a 2195 error.

    Also, the following FDC could be generated:
    Major Errorcode   :- rrcE_PROTOCOL_ERROR
    Minor Errorcode   :- OK
    Probe Type        :- MSGAMQ9504
    Probe Severity    :- 2
    Probe Description :- AMQ9504: A protocol error was detected for
    channel 'TEST'.
    Arith1            :- 5 (0x5)
    Arith2            :- 18 (0x12)
    Comment1          :- TEST
    

Local fix

  • Set SHARECNV on a client connection and server connection
    channels to a value greater then 1.
    

Problem summary

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A logic error resulted in a failure to correctly initialize an
    internal connection structures in the managed .Net client code
    when SHARECNV was set to 1 on the channel.  This error resulted
    in the protocol length error being reported to the client.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ managed .Net client code has been corrected so that this
    structure is initialized correctly.
