Error description

• Restoring a Windows VM containing multiple disks (generally 4 or
  more) with a Linux datamover using the hotadd transport mode
  fails to restore all disks correctly.
  The user may see missing disk or corrupted data.
  
  This issue is caused  by the VDDK version being used by Data
  Protection for VMware version 7.1.6 and 8.1.0.

  for VMware version 8.1.0 on Linux
  
  This problem also affects IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive
  Client which is the data mover for Data Protection for
  VMware 7.1.6. If you are using Data Protection for VMware
  7.1.6 refer to APAR IT19605.
  

Local fix

• Use another transport mode such as nbd to restore the VM, or use
  a Windows datamover to restore the VM with the hotadd transport
  mode.

  Recommendation:
  This issue is projected to be fixed in the Backup-Archive Client
  version 7.1.8 and 7.1.6.5 on all Linux x86 platforms
  Note 1: The Backup-Archive Client is a prerequisite to using the
  Data Protection for VMware. In Data Protection for VMware
  environments, the Backup-Archive Client is also known as the
  data mover.
  
  This issue is projected to be fixed in the Data Protection for
  VMware Data Mover version 8.1.0.2 and 8.1.2 on all and Linux x86
  platforms
  Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
  
  Problem Conclusion:
  The Linux only multiple disk hotadd restore issue has been fixed
  in the latest VMware VDDK update, which will be included in the
  versions listed above.
