Error description
Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager and Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SQL Server restore operation from a VMVSS backup may terminate with ANS1086E due to iSCSI mount failure even though the Recovery Agent has exposed the correct disk. The root cause is the wrong determination of the partition index. APAR IT15207 addressed similar problem but at the backup stage. The problem there was that partition index for mountpoints were not matching due to the fact that the recovery agent enumerates partitions in a sequential order, whereas application protection code obtains partition indexes based on VDS disk offsets. The change in IT15207 was to move to enumerating in a sequential order in the injected code when generating APPPROTECTIONDBINFO.XML, just as the RA does. This change was only made in the backup process which was enough for the FBVV driver. However after switching to iSCSI, restore processing now requires similar code changes to figure out the partition index we need to mount from a disk. Products affected: IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments: Data Protection for VMware version 8.1.0 on Windows This problem also affects IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive Client which is the data mover for Data Protection for VMware 7.1 and later. If you are using Data Protection for VMware 7.1.6.2 and later refer to APAR IT18134 .
