Error description

  • The ChlauthEarlyAdopt attribute was introduced under APAR
    IT12825 to allow
a supplied user identifier to be adopted earlier in the process
    of channel
    negotiation.

This APAR will make a number of changes to this functionality
    across the IBM
    MQ v8 and v9 releases.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the ChlauthEarlyAdopt qm.ini parameter that was
    introduced by APAR IT12825
may be affected by this change.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A new qm.ini parameter ChlauthEarlyAdopt was added to IBM MQ
    under APAR IT12825.
This parameter ensures that when ADOPTCTX(YES) is used on the
    default authentication
information object then USERMAP channel authentication rules are
    honored.

This APAR addresses a number of issues with the
    ChlauthEarlyAdopt functionality:

IBM MQ v8: It is not necessary to have two settings 'E' and 'Y'
    for ChlauthEarlyAdopt.

IBM MQ v9 LTS: The functionality for ChlauthEarlyAdopt 'E' was
    missing from this release and
so if security exits were enabled then applications may fail to
    connect to the
    queue manager.

IBM MQ v9 LTS/CD: ChlauthEarlyAdopt 'E' was not recognised as a
    valid option, therefore users
with security exits who migrated to the IBM MQ v9 LTS or CD
    release and who used the
ChlauthEarlyAdopt 'E' option in IBM MQ v8 may be unable to
    connect to the queue manager.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM MQ v8/v9 LTS and v9 CD releases will be modified to
correct the issues listed in this APAR:

IBM MQ v8: The ChlauthEarlyAdopt option 'Y' is made functionally
    equivalent to option 'E'.

IBM MQ v9 LTS: ChlauthEarlyAdopt 'E' functionality is added so
    that security exits can be
used with ChlauthEarlyAdopt. The ChlauthEarlyAdopt option 'Y'
    is made functionally
    equivalent to option 'E'.

IBM MQ v9 LTS/CD: To aid with migration from IBM MQ v8 where
    ChlauthEarlyAdopt may have been
set to 'E', the product will be changed to allow 'E' to be used
    as a synonym for 'Y'.

The net effect across IBM MQ v8, v9 LTS and v9 CD, is that
ChlauthEarlyAdopt 'Y' will become functionally equivalent to 'E'
and that either option may be specified in qm.ini.

The documentation will be updated to reflect the changes in this
APAR and APAR IT12825 will be updated
to reference this APAR. In particular, mention of option 'E'
will be removed from the documentation in order to limit
    confusion.
