Error description

  • If two appliances are configured for disaster recovery and the
replication link between them is broken then it is possible for
a partitioned state to occur, whereby the data is out of step on
the recovery appliance. The documented process to resolve a
partitioned state is to run makedrsecondary on the appliance
whose data should be discarded, then run makedrprimary on the
appliance whose data should be kept. The queue manager data is
then synchronized between the appliances to restore normal
    operation.

In some partition scenarios it is sufficient to only run the
makedrsecondary command. If the makedrprimary command is then
run while data is being synchronized it incorrectly fails with
message "AMQ6523: The command failed because synchronization is
    in progress."

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the IBM MQ Appliance who have established appliances in
    a disaster recovery configuration.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The makedrprimary command failed to distinguish between data
being synchronized to the appliance and data being synchronized
from the appliance when resolving a partitioned state.

Problem conclusion

  • The makedrprimary command has been updated to correctly check
    the status of synchronization.
