Error description

  • If the MbXPath object from the Java Plugin Node API is used to
reference or update a message using XPath expressions, it may
cause the entire message to be parsed. If the message contains
many repeating structures then this can cause the integration
server (execution group) to terminate, due to a stack overflow
and as such an abend file may not be written.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM Integration Bus v10.0 using the MbXPath object
from the Java Plugin Node API to parse an XML message that
    contains many repeating structures.

    Platforms affected:
    z/OS, MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The Java Plugin Node API has an MbXPath object which can be used
to reference or update a XML message using XPath expressions.

If the message contains many repeating structures and the XPath
expressions cause all parts of a message to be parsed, this can
cause the integration server (execution group) to terminate due
to a stack overflow and as such an abend file may not be
    written.

Problem conclusion

  • Irrespective of how many repeating structures are parsed by an
MbXPath object, the integration server will no longer terminate.
