APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The mqsiprofile script echos the version number and the install
directory to stdout. If the mqsiprofile script is sourced in a
users default environment then this prevents scp from working.

Local fix

  • Remove the following lines from the mqsiprofile script:

    echo
    echo MQSI $MQSI_VERSION
    echo $MQSI_FILEPATH
    echo

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM Integration Bus Pattern for PureApplication and
users of IBM Integration Bus on Unix platforms which set the
mqsiprofile in their default shell environment.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If the mqsiprofile script is set as part of the default shell
environment then users will be unable to connect remotely using
scp using the IIB userid. This is due to a defect in scp which
causes scp to hang if anything is written to stdout during the
    connection negotiation phase.

By default the mqsiprofile script outputs the version and
install path information for the IIB installation.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

Problem conclusion

  • The mqsiprofile script has been updated to attempt to detect if
it is running in an interactive context, if it determines that
the shell is not interactive then it will suppress writing the
version information and install file path to stdout.
