APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When attempting to copy a file from the MQ appliance to another
machine using SCP, if the target user account has an equals sign
    (=)
in its password then the copy fails with the following error:

    % Copy: File copy error

Local fix

  • Do not use passwords that contain equals sign(=)

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the MQ Appliance.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A user executed the copy command from the MQ appliance
command line interface to copy a file to another machine
using the SCP protocol, but the target user's account had an
equals sign (=) in its password which caused the copy to fail
    as follows:

      mqa(config)# copy mqdiag://runmqras_QM1.zip
    scp://[email protected]//tmp/
      Password: ******************************

      % Copy: File copy error

The problem occurred because of a logic error in the MQ
Appliance which prevented the scp copy code from handling equals
    signs in passwords correctly.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ Appliance has been updated to ensure that passwords
containing equals signs (=) are handled correctly.
