Error description

  • Using the FTP Client belonging to IBM Personal Communications
    Version 6.0.16 with MSCAPI SSL configuration.

    We are connecting to Host using port 21 which works fine:
    .
    When trying to receive a tersed file from host the FTP Client
    crashes with window:
    "pcsFTP.exe funktioniert nicht mehr".

  • Use non-secure z/OS host connection
    

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * IBM Personal Communications FTP Client is configured with    *
    * IBM MSCAPI Security. When large files are being received     *
    * from a z/OS host the FTP client crashes.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    FTP client crashes when receiving large files from a z/OS host
    if a secure connection is made using MSCAPI Security. Buffer
    size was too small for the file size being received.
    

Problem conclusion

  • PCSFTP.EXE changes have been made to increase the size of buffer
    used to receive large files.
    
    Fix scheduled for Personal Communications 6.0.18 Refresh Pack
    and 12.0.1.0 Refresh Pack.
