Error description

  • When running the fteCleanAgent command with only the agent name
and no arguments specified the behaviour is equivalent to
fteCleanAgent <agentName> -all. As a result, all in-progress and
pending transfers, resource monitor definitions and scheduled
transfers definitions on the agent the command was run against
    are cleared.

As an example, the following two commands result in the same
    behaviour:

    fteCleanAgent agent100
    fteCleanAgent -all agent100

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects the users of the fteCleanAgent command on the
    following product releases:

    - IBM MQ v9
    - IBM MQ v8
    - WebSphere MQ v7.5 Managed File Transfer
    - WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition v7.0.4

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When the fteCleanAgent command was run with only the agent name
specified, it would run as if the user supplied the -all
argument. This cleared all in-progress and pending transfers,
resource monitor definitions and scheduled transfer definitions
on the agent. Therefore the following two commands would result
    in the same behaviour:

    fteCleanAgent agent100
    fteCleanAgent -all agent100

Problem conclusion

  • The fteCleanAgent command has been updated such that a user must
specify which Managed File Transfer state to clear by passing
the appropriate parameters to the command, as well as providing
    an agent name.

This change in behaviour ensures that by default fteCleanAgent
does not clear all in-progress and pending transfers, resource
monitor definitions and scheduled transfer definitions for the
    agent specified.

The list of allowed parameters has not been changed by this APAR
and is documented in the IBM MQ Knowledge Center:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.ibm
    .wmqfte.doc/clean_agent_cmd.htm

This APAR also adds a new property to revert fteCleanAgent to
its original behaviour if required. The property is set in the
    command.properties file and is called
    "failCleanAgentWithNoArguments".

By default the value of "failCleanAgentWithNoArguments" is true,
and the fteCleanAgent command will fail to run if only the agent
    name parameter is specified.

Setting the property "failCleanAgentWithNoArguments" to false
reverts to the original behaviour for fteCleanAgent, where if
only the agent name parameter is set, the behaviour of the
command is equivalent to specifying the -all flag.
