APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An MQCONN operation was observed to return 2018 MQRC_HCONN_ERROR
    incorrectly, when 2002 MQRC_ALREADY_CONNECTED was expected.
    This occurred in an environment where IBM MQ Advanced Message
    Security was installed and AMQ_DISABLE_CLIENT_AMS was not set.

    This problem could not be solved from the traces available. IBM
    MQ trace data has been improved to make it easier to support
    this issue if it happens in future.

Local fix

  • The condition will not arise if this is set in the environment
    before
    starting the client (note, applies from fix pack 7.5.0.4, see
    APAR
    IC94205).
    AMQ_DISABLE_CLIENT_AMS=TRUE

    or

    An alternative (from 7.5.0.5, see APAR IT04580) is to add this
    setting to the mqclient.ini file:

     Security:
        DisableClientAMS=YES
