Error description
Probes and performance monitor jobs fail referencing incorrect username/password despite confirming both are correctly entered in the Spectrum Control GUI. Failure messages such as the following are found in probe job logs: 2016-03-09 05:44:51.922-0700 HWN021538E The username <username> or password is wrong on CIMOM https://storage.example.com:5989 This is caused by invalid credentials that should have been removed from the Spectrum Control database tables when a previous data source (CIMOM) was removed and/or updated. Probes can still refer to the invalid info and the jobs will fail as noted. RECREATE STEPS: Remove a switch or subsystem and re-add it with new data source credentials, observe probe failures as noted ________________________________________________________________ DB2 Version used for Server: N/A The defect is against component: 5608TPCA0 Server/Manager build/release (TPC): 5.2.8 ________________________________________________________________ Problem as described by customer: Probe/Performance monitor failure Initial customer impact (low/med/high): med
Local fix
Contact support for validation of the problem via database table queries. Once confirmed, removing all monitored devices that are associated with that CIMOM data source and adding them back in clears the errant database table entry, and configures probes and performance monitor jobs to refer to the correct credentials.

Problem conclusion
This APAR fixes the issue of the probe ending in failure in this case of multiple data sources (1 successful and 1 failure). Further refinement for multiple data sources is targeted for a future release. The fix for this APAR is targeted for the following maintenance package: | refresh pack | 5.2-TIV-TPC-RP0010 - target 2Q16 Fixed in IBM Spectrum Control 5.2.10. http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?&uid=swg21320822 The target dates for future refresh packs do not represent a formal commitment by IBM. The dates are subject to change without notice. | MDVREGR 5.2-TIV-TPC-RP0008 | | MDVREGR 5.2-TIV-TPC-RP0009 |
