APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • On AIX at 7.0.0.8 the shipped JRE package includes hard links
between the libjvm.a and libjvm.so files. This can cause
unexpected results, including crashes, when custom java code is
called which makes native calls, or when running custom C plugin
    nodes that make JNI calls.

This problem is known to affect the WTX Node.

Local fix

  • To resolve follow these steps:
    .
    1.) cd $MQSI_FILEPATH/jre16/lib/ppc64/classic
    2.) mv libjvm.a libjvm_a_backup
    3.) ln -s libjvm.so libjvm.a
    4.) cd $MQSI_FILEPATH/jre16/lib/ppc64/j9vm
    5.) mv libjvm.a libjvm_a_backup
    6.) ln -s libjvm.so libjvm.a

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
On AIX the JRE package initially includes hard links between the
libjvm.a and libjvm.so files. This can cause unexpected results,
including crashes, when custom java code is called which makes
native calls or when running custom C plugin nodes that make JNI
    calls.

This is known to affect the WTX Node.

Some updates to the JRE on AIX may also be affected including
    interim security updates.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

Problem conclusion

  • The build automation has been updated so that JRE supplied with
hard links are replaced with soft links prior to shipping the
updated JRE in a product release or fix pack.
