Error description

  • When using an MI topology the standby node logs a BIP8236I
message to the syslog every 30 minutes. This can cause the
    syslog to fill up.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM Integration Bus version 10 with multi-instance
    broker topologies.

    Platforms affected:
    z/OS, MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A standby instance of a multi-instance broker will log a BIP8236
informational entry to the syslog every 30 minutes while the
instance is on standby. This can flood the syslog.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

Problem conclusion

  • An environment variable MQSI_STANDBY_REPORT_TIME_MINS is now
available which controls the frequency with which the BIP8236
message is logged on the standby instance. The environment
variable can be set to any integer value between 1 and 43200.

The entire Integration Node must be restarted in order for
changes to this value to take effect.
