IT14163: MEMORY LEAK IN AMQZLAA0

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Over time one or more agent processes (amqzlaa0 or amqzlaa0.exe
  on Windows) accumulate gigabytes of memory, forcing the queue
  manager to be restarted to reclaim the memory.
  

Local fix

• Restart the queue manager to release the excess memory.
  

Problem summary

  Users using applications that consume messages which contain
  properties or MQRHF2 headers.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  This problem occurred because the memory allocated for
  MQRFH2/properties was not freed when an MQGET API call was
  internally re-issued by the queue manager logic in order to
  retrieve the message under a new unit of work.
  
  A trace of the agent process would show the apiGetMessage
  function returning the internal reason code
  lrcI_TRANSACTIONAL_NEXT. This reason code is correct and
  expected, however the path to handle this response did not
  correctly free allocated memory.
  

Problem conclusion

• MQ has been modified to release the memory used to store
  properties data when the internal reason code
  lrcI_TRANSACTIONAL_NEXT is received.
